The government of Zimbabwe has issued a statement on the illegal sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe by the United States of America.

The announcement on the 4th of March 2024 by the United States President Joseph R Biden purporting to rescind all illegal Executive Orders passed by his predecessors since 6 March 2006 some 21 years later after the debilitating sanctions against the country.

Zimbabwe cannot be expected to thank or be grateful to President Biden and the United States for announcing palliative measures torwards finally rescinding an illegality at its own pace,'' read the statement.

The statement went on to say that these bald and damaging accusations are not backed by any evidence.

What adds to the outrage is that these damaging accusations ,coldly and mechanically made through through a predrafted standard text of high-handed pillory by the United States are not backed by any iota of evidence nor do they follow any internationally recognized show of due process in competent courts,''said the Government.

It adds on that Zimbabwe gives its gratitude to SADC and AU for supporting her struggle against these illegal measures and these organizations to maintain the momentum against the so-called targeted sanctions.

Zimbabwe reiterates its deep gratitude to the Southern Africa Development Community, African Union, the progressive world and United Nations for supporting her just struggle against these illegal coercive US measures, Zimbabwe urges these orgarnisations and all men and women of goodwill worldwide to mantain the momentum against the so called targeted sanctions which in reality are country sanction and must be removed, 'said Government.

Zimbabwe will stand firm in defense of her own sovereignty and in pursuit of her chosen destiny consistent with its policy of being a friend to all and an enemy to none. No amount of sanctions or hostilities will deter or detract her from her chosen path.
